Team Influence

My observations over the past few weeks has given me new insights to how team members can influence each other. When a team works at its best, the team as a whole functions in combination of a lifetime observations and experiences.

In my life, where I had to deal with various groups of people tasked with varying projects, I am amazed how one or two members of that group can influence the whole.

Recently, in the early morning hours, a light bulb flashed on in my head. Hard as I tried, I could not get back to sleep until I mentally explored some of the dynamic of teams.

We are all taught that any successful team must be comprised of different personalities with different talents.

AKA: “The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.”

Some of you may be thinking, “Da, are you just now realizing it?”

For me, the awaking came started when I attended a Writer’s In Residence meeting. The leader of that meeting did something a little different. She started out with a relaxation exercise. From there she had us picture where we would be in five years. She encouraged us to aim high. Set for ourselves a lofty goal. I did.

From that session, I have been acutely aware of what I have to do to reach that goal. Maybe not in five years, but I will reach it, nevertheless. A big part of reaching that goal, for me, needs to be the people I surround myself with and the team who I bring into my life to reach that goal.

I close out this post with one question for you readers. “Do the people who you surround yourself, and your team, people who can help you reach your goals?”
